Meet our Fantastical Designer: Joel Escober

Joel is known for his fantastical creations: elaborate fan like pieces trailing down the body, dresses blooming profusely, ruffles and drapes fluidly melding into one stunning statement.

It is no wonder that Joel is a fashion favorite among stylish ladies. He makes pieces that catch the eye, and encourages it to linger, long enough to admire every detail that he puts in his work.

We at Myth strongly encourage you to check out his designs. While they do look breathtaking in photos, they are infinitely more divine in real life. To see is to believe!

Meet our Streetwear Designer: Nixon Marquez

Have we whetted your appetite yet on Nixon Marquez?

We've decided to tell you more about Nixon, who was hailed as part of Preview Magazine's roster of designers to watch in 2010:

- He is absolutely self-taught
- He used to be stylist Shahani Gania's assistant
- He loves to sketch - particularly skinny female Japanese anime characters
- He is known for his predominantly black, gray & white palette. For S/S 2011, he ventures into neutral territory still, with nudes & whites
- His design philosophy?

"It should be monochromatic and unconventional yet practical."

We can assure you, again and again, he manages to achieve all three in his designs! Nixon is a great talent and we are so pleased to have him at Myth!

In the Press: Nixon Marquez, Metro Magazine February 2011

Did you guess right? It's Nixon Marquez in the spotlight as well!

Nixon, a young accessories turned streetwear designer, is building a name for himself, not only in Manila but in Singapore as well. The young designer's pieces are stocked in one of  the Lion City's hottest boutiques, Blackmarket.

And it's no surprise that Quincy and Jasmine, the duo behind Blackmarket spotted his talent! As Nixon tells Metro Magazine:

"There are three very important things that I pay attention to when creating clothes: the color, the fit, and the design".

So pleased to share with you that two of our designers have been featured in the February  2011 issue of Metro Magazine! 

First is Myth's in-house designer Noel Crisostomo. Here's an excerpt from the article:

Noel's polished, architectural pieces perfectly relay his designer mantra, "My pieces are between on-trend and wearable because I have to make sure that somebody's going to wear my clothes; you're not a designer if no one's buying your clothes," he says. 

We couldn't agree more!

Meet our Romantic Designer: Chris Diaz

Chris Diaz is not your typical designer. He graduated in 1998 with a degree in Interior Design from PSID and four years later, found himself in the world of clothing and accessories. Fueled by the exposure and training he received as an artist/embroidery designer for an exporter of couture fabrics, straight out of high school, he went on to pursue his true passion - fashion.

Sheer talent allowed him to gain entry as a finalist in Mega Magazine's Young Designer's Competition in 2002. In 2005 he joined Concours International des Jeunes Creatures de Mode, Accessories Division in Paris, France. By 2006, he was awarded Best Evening Wear Designer by the Mercedes Benz Malaysian International Fashion Award (MIFA).

After gaining recognition from fashion competitions and scores of magazine and press features later, Chris has surely made his mark in the industry, alll that without any formal training! And we are more than pleased to have him on board at Myth, where he continues to amaze us with his perfect blend of conceptual yet commercial pieces. As a retailer, I would have to say, that's genius!

Meet our Beauty Guru: Henri Calayag

Henri has been cutting my hair for years now, and I trust my tresses to no other, but him. So of course, when he came out with his make-up line, it was a no brainer that we'd support him and carry these at MYTH.

Henri's Liquerish Collection, a line of matte glosses have been deemed "intoxicating and lipsmacking" by model and Philippine Star columnist Rissa Mananquil...
